Frequently asked questions
How does Syncogia decide when to show a card?
Syncogia uses FSRS, a spaced repetition algorithm that models how well you remember each card. After you rate a card, it plans the next review for the moment your recall is expected to drop to your target retention.
You can change the target retention under Profile, Settings, Study, Memory & Schedule. A higher target means more reviews. You can also run the optimizer to tune the schedule to your own review history.
What do Again, Hard, Good, and Easy mean?
Again: you did not remember it. Hard: you remembered it with real effort. Good: you remembered it after a short pause. Easy: it came to you instantly.
Be honest. The schedule is only as accurate as your ratings.
How do I import cards?
Create a new deck and choose Import. Select a CSV or JSON file of up to 25 MB. If the import takes a while, it keeps running on our servers and your decks update when it finishes.
What do I do if I forget my password?
On the sign-in screen, tap “Forgot password?”. We email you a one-time code to set a new password. If you signed in with Apple or Google, you have no Syncogia password. Use the Apple or Google button on the sign-in screen.
How do I turn on two-step verification?
Go to Profile, then Settings, then Account & Security, and choose Two-Factor Authentication. The same section lists your active sessions.
How do I stop notifications?
Go to Profile, then Settings, then Notifications to choose what you receive. You can also turn notifications off completely in iOS Settings, under Notifications, then Syncogia.
How do I delete my account?
You can delete your account from inside the app. See the step-by-step guide and what happens to your data on the delete account page.
How do I report a user or a deck?
You can block a user from the menu on their profile, and review blocked users under Profile, Settings, Privacy, Blocked Users. To report a deck, open its menu and choose Report Deck. For anything else, such as a comment or a user, email support@syncogia.com with a link or username and a short description. We review reports and remove content that breaks the Terms.
